Well... this is out of the blue.
To be honest, I've thought about making this list for quite some time. It wasn't until February when I decided to not post anything in favor of creating a list that I deem to be my biggest project ever... ranking the top 100 K-Pop singles!
I have a lot to say about this. First, you notice in the title that I have, in parentheses, 90s-2010s. That means any K-Pop singles from the 90s to the 2010s were eligible for this list. Nothing from 2020, 2021, and anything before the 90s.
Also, when I'm talking about singles, I'm talking about songs that were released with music videos alongside them. I didn't count a single that promoted anything else other than the artists themselves. And of course, these singles must be marketed to the Korean music industry with Korean as the main language.
Because I didn't want to drag this project out too long, I decided to exclude some artists to narrow the list of candidates down. Acts such as Epik High and CNBLUE weren't on my radar. I like to think of them as K-Pop, but for the sake of this list, I decided to not have them eligible.
Speaking of artists, some unfortunately didn't make the list. That's where the honorable mentions come into play. Just because they didn't make it in the top 100, doesn't mean they're bad. K-Pop has gifted us with a lot of great tracks, but recognizing all of them would result in a long series. For today's list, I highlighted 10 K-Pop artists with their representative singles in no particular order. These are songs I personally wanted to share as honorees.
You have the weekend off before the real ceremony begins, so take this time to share your opinion or listen to these tracks if you haven't yet!
